Welcome to Off-Leash, a series spotlighting Biche’s community of tastemaking dogs and humans.
For Danielle Naer’s dog, jet setting comes naturally. Pinot, a two-year-old Chihuahua mix, accompanies his mom — a fashion editor, stylist, and creative consultant — nearly everywhere she goes, including Fashion Week.
A rescue from Tennessee, Pinot flew to New York with a fleet of other adoptable dogs at just two months old. Danielle was set to foster the pup and, in typical dog-lover fashion, ended up keeping him.
"From the first second, we were completely attached to him,” she says. Since then, Pinot has traveled the world with his parents, touching down in Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico, and France. "He only speaks French, in fact. His formative months were in Normandy with his grandparents, so the basic commands stuck.”
Given Pinot’s native tongue, it may not come as a surprise that he’s more cultured than most humans. He’s done everything from sitting front row at Fashion Week to running off-leash through the Piazza della Signoria in Florence.
Ahead, we chat with Danielle about Pinot’s taste for caviar and Laniege lip masks.
