Welcome to Off-Leash, a series spotlighting Biche’s community of tastemaking dogs and humans.

Given Lizzy Koury’s profession, it’s only fitting that she has a dog named Baker. A five-year-old Miniature Dachshund, Baker has become something of a four-legged mascot for Loser’s Eating House, Lizzy’s catering business that went viral in 2024 after supplying the influencer Tinx with a bright orange, Aperol spritz-flavored cake.

Since then, Lizzy has become downtown New York’s official unofficial pastry chef, popping up at hot spots like Jean’s, WSA, and Colbo with her gigantic sourdough cinnamon rolls and creating custom cakes for the likes of Tommy Dorfman and Martha Stewart.

Lizzy’s brush with virality was relatively recent, but Baker has been around since the beginning — or at least before Loser’s became a full-fledged business. "It was a warm late summer evening in 2019 and, per usual, I began searching Google Images for 'cute dogs,’” Lizzy recounts. "A few clicks and a couple minutes later, I was reading my credit card number out loud.”

Despite his mom’s culinary speciality, Baker prefers salty over sweet. Instead of begging for cake, he’s more likely to be found scrounging for “sidewalk pepperonis” or sniffing out steak. Keep scrolling for more of Baker’s quirks, and more of Lizzy’s food-related favorites.
