Romilly Newman has always had good taste. At age 11, she was cooking risotto on CBS, running her own food blog, and hosting garden lunch parties. Now in her twenties, Romilly is still a culinary tastemaker — and she has a dog with an equally refined palate.

Romilly’s six-year-old dog, Luna, is a Lagotto Romagnolo, an Italian breed known for its skill at sniffing out truffles. "Luna was born on a full moon during COVID, hence her name,” Romilly says. “As soon as we met, I knew we were soulmates. Her breed is the kind that hunts for truffles in Italy, but she just hunts through my bathroom trashcan at home.”

While Romilly and Luna’s home base in Brooklyn isn’t exactly fertile ground for precious mushrooms, Luna entertains herself with other luxuries — like Dyson Airwrap attachments (her favorite toy) and La Prairie face cream (her favorite smell).

Ahead, we chat with Romilly about her and Luna’s culinary preferences and pet peeves.
